Its time again for force update

Well people its time again for force update for MSN, and here its how to work around it.

1. Download ResHack
2. Extract ResHack
3. Close MSN down (dont let any of the services run)
4. Open ResHack (if you are using Vista or 7 you have to run the application in Administration mode)
5. Open the file called msnmsgr.exe (it can be found in C:\Program\MSN Messanger\, if not search for it on the computer)
6. Now click on Version Info -> 01 -> 1033
7. Change so you have the same value as i got (click to get bigger picture):


8. When this is done press Compile Script
9. Now go to File -> Save
10. Done!

The new version code is 15.4.3502.922

I have also uploaded the files to megaupload if you don't wanna do the steps above. Be sure that the megaupload "code" is VMT3MML6 and the password is the same as the URL for this site.

I would be glad if people could tell if this works for them, what OS and on what version of MSN.

Imageshack.us error

It looks like MSN dosnt like Imageshack anymore.
They have started to stop links that start with imageskach.us the same way that they did for some time ago with TinyURL.

Fix is on its way... stay tune

Problems

Has received a lot of e-mails where people have had various small errors in the "force update hack".
It has been pretty simple error that have been resolved quickly.
Most seems to have problems when injecting the exe file, it is important that you make sure that all MSN services really are stoped before injecting the code.

If people have problems please add a comment and i will try to answer them asap.
Don't forgett to tell me what OS and version of MSN you are using.

I will take it one by one:

mewofforcena: Sure if you want. I guess that people understand what i mean but if you want and have time sure, just give me your mail and i will contact you. Also check the guide below.
yamstar: The file you are looking for is called "msnmsgr.exe" and not msn.exe

The exe file under the File section have worked for a some people while some have got alot of problems. I don't know why but

I will here guide you on how to "hack" the files manually.

Well today it was time again for a new force update from our "friends" at Microsoft and once again i desided that i didn't wanted the new update.

I have uploaded a new version of the "Force Update Hack" in the file section.

IMPORTANT:

This one have only been tested on one Windows XP computer with service pack 3.

Update

The user Orealisk have addad a comment with info that is good to know.

Simple little thing actually, one doesn't need to be under administrator privileges to alter MSN. I only have access to a limited account, and I simply had to save the altered msnmsgr file under My Documents and open MSN 8.1 via that file location.

It's very nifty knowing that so people won't spaz out on your page complaining that they can't because they aren't admin accesable.

This is the solution for these who get the communication error or when you start msn there is no error message you just can't log in.
Hi all try this it works for me.
Make sure you exit MSN.
1.Click Start
2.Click My Computer
3.Double Click Local Disk (C )
4.Double Click Program files
5.Double Click Windows Live
6.Double Click Contacts
7.Right Click wlcomm and click on Properties
8.Click the Compatibility tab and in the Compatibility Mode box put a tick and select Windows 98/Windows ME and click OK.
Now Start MSN and all should be good.

MSN USB edition (Beta 1.0)

Ok... some people have issue to run MSN at work or so.
Here is the USB edition of MSN with the Force Update Hack included.

Read the readme file before using this and please be sure that MSN is closed on the computer you are sitting at before running MSN from the USB device.

IMPORTANT:
THIS IS JUST BETA 1.0 OF THE USB EDITION OF MSN. IT HAVE JUST BEEN TESTED ON TWO COMPUTERS WITH WINDOWS XP SP2/SP3 AND IT DID WORK.
